Saving public education – an emergency conference

Michal Sella delivered a lecture [in Hebrew], "How can we fix the discrimination in public education and reinforce democracy?" at an emergency conference in August, just before the beginning of the school year. Agroup of some 500 educators, teachers, students, social activists, and members of Knesset convened to discuss how to save public education. The burning issue was not only how to open the school year, but how to save the public school system and keep it democratic and free, with out discrimination. The conference was the initiative of the media outlet, The Marker Online together with the Public School Guard of Givat Haviva, the Berl Katzanelson Foundation, IDEA: The Center for Liberal Democracy, and Hechalutz Movement – Hamidrasha at Oranim.
